Fulham picked up a great point on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The London club drew 2-2 at home to Liverpool thanks to two goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Not many people gave Marco Silva’s side much a chance going into their clash against the Reds but they made a decent account of themselves.

Fulham have been busy in this transfer window and it doesn’t look like they have stopped their recruitment just yet following their promotion from the Championship last term.

They are now being linked with a move for former Manchester City defender Jason Denayer, despite landing centre-back Shane Duffy on loan from fellow top flight club Brighton and Hove Albion last week.

That’s according to Football Insider, who claim the Cottagers have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign the Belgium international on a free transfer.

More on Denayer

Denayer is available for nothing at the moment after his contract at Lyon expired.

He spent the past four years with the Ligue 1 side and made 139 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with eight goals.

The Brussels-born man joined Manchester City back in 2013 but never ended up playing for their first-team, despite being on the books of the North West giants for five years.

Instead, he had loan spells away at Celtic, Sunderland and Galatasaray before leaving in 2018.

Denayer would give Fulham more competition and depth in the middle of the park if he was to move to Craven Cottage. He knows the country already and is a useful age at 27.

Other Fulham news

It appears Silva is prioritising defensive reinforcements at the moment with The Telegraph reporting that his side have now agreed a £15million fee with West Ham United for Issa Diop.
