Fulham CEO confirms new club partnership for major sporting event

Fulham CEO Alistair Mackintosh has welcomed the club's new collaboration with The Boat Race ahead of the prestigious rowing event taking place on the Tideway outside Craven Cottage at the end of the month.

Craven Cottage will host a viewing party under the Riverside Stand with hundreds of spectators set to attend the event and watch Oxford University and Cambridge University battle it out on the water. The annual event is regularly attended by a total of 250,000 spectators and is one of the world's oldest sporting events.

Mr Mackintosh said: “We are delighted to be part of an official Fan Zone that connects Bishops Park to Craven Cottage for this iconic annual event. Boat Race Day is an important date in the sporting calendar. Its prestige and history are perfectly synonymous with Fulham Football Club and our local community. We look forward to welcoming spectators to a fantastic day.”

The Boat Race 2024 take place on Saturday, March 30 with the Women's Race starting at 2:46 pm and the Men's Race at 3:46 pm. The action gets underway in Putney, just a few hundred metres from Craven Cottage.

The Fulham FC hosted viewing will be free to attend with spectators able to watch races from the concourse. Food and drink vendors will also be open underneath the Riverside Stand with 'a range of Boat Race partners who are activating in the space while also watching the races unfold via screens throughout the space'.

Chair of the Board of The Boat Race Company, Siobhan Cassidy, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Fulham FC to provide Boat Race spectators with a fan zone at Craven Cottage, one of London’s most instantly recognisable football grounds.

“The Riverside Stand will be the perfect viewing space for avid Boat Race fans and passers-by alike, with a raft of refreshments and entertainment to be enjoyed as part of our ‘Party on the River’.

“We can’t wait to welcome people from the local area of visitors to Craven Cottage to enjoy an exciting day of free sport, watching this world-famous event from a fellow London institution.”
