QPR’s relegation rivals Hull City are in the hunt for a new manager after Tim Walter was sacked earlier this week

Former Fulham, Sheffield United and Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic has reportedly made his way to London to hold talks over the managerial vacancy at Championship strugglers Hull City.

Queens Park Rangers and Millwall’s Championship rivals sacked Tim Walter on Wednesday after a 2-0 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday which left the Tigers inside the relegation zone. The German was only in charge for 17 games and prior to his departure had described his time in East Yorkshire as the toughest of his managerial career.

According to journalist Alan Biggs, Jokanovic was scheduled to meet with Hull owner Acun Ilicali for talks in London on Thursday. Jokanovic has managed 168 games in the Championship in spells with the Blades, Fulham and the Hornets. He has won 80 of those games, drawing 43 and losing 45. The former Chelsea midfielder spent 36 matches in charge of Watford and 22 at Sheffield United. His most successful spell in England came with Fulham, as he was in charge for three years and won the Championship play-offs with the Craven Cottage outfit in 2018.

He was sacked a few months after securing promotion. At time of his departure, the Cottagers were bottom of the Premier League with five points from 12 games. At the time of his sacking, he said: "It is always disappointing when this happens, but I reflect on my spell at Fulham with immense pride and gratitude, looking back on great memories following my appointment at this fantastic football club almost three years ago now.

"We have been on an exciting journey together. It all started when we avoided relegation to League One in my first season, before reaching the play-offs in my second year and then achieving promotion to the Premier League on an unforgettable day at Wembley back in May. I feel that we gave the club's fans a footballing identity and a team to be proud of. I was still confident that we would have been able to turn things around after our slow start to the season, just as we had done in previous years, but I respectfully accept the club's decision.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Shahid Khan for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club and for his kindness. I extend my thanks to everyone at Fulham Football Club. It has also been a real pleasure to work with the players, and my staff and I wish to thank the squad for all of their effort and dedication. Finally, I am extremely grateful to the Fulham fans for their support since I arrived at the club and their very kind messages following my departure. I want to wish everyone connected with Fulham Football Club all the very best for the future."

Hull are just one point above QPR after the Loftus Road outfit clinched an impressive 2-0 win at relegation rivals Cardiff City on Wednesday. The East Yorkshire club have lost eight of their 17 Championship outings this term although they have taken points off both Millwall and QPR. They secured a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Den back in August before winning 3-1 at Loftus Road at the beginning of October.
