Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz has stepped up to the plate in the absence of Raul Jimenez.

Chelsea are set to earn a £4 million windfall from Fulham thanks to the form of striker Rodrigo Muniz keeping loanee Armando Broja out of the side.

The Brazilian has bagged five goals in the Premier League since February, having not net once in the campaign previously. Muniz has stepped up to fill the void left by the injured Raul Jimenez and looks on fire at the moment.

There were questions from Fulham as to whether Muniz had the credentials to fill in for the Mexican, leading to the loan signing of Chelsea forward Broja on Deadline Day. The Blues striker looked set to lead the line for the Cottagers but is yet to start a match since making the short move from Stamford Bridge to Craven Cottage.

Broja has played just 47 minutes for Fulham and his lack of action could mean that the club must fork out £4 million to Chelsea as a result. The Blues had originally quoted Fulham £50 million to sign Broja permanently in January but Fulham refused that and pushed for a loan deal.

The two clubs eventually agreed a loan deal where Fulham would pay nothing should Broja play 60 per cent or more of their matches - of which there were 16 when he joined. However, should Broja not play those minutes, Fulham would have to cough up £4 million.

That's according to the Daily Mail, which concludes that unless Broja starts every game between now and the end of the season - which seems unlikely given Muniz's form - the payment will be triggered. Chelsea had seen the deal as a 'win/win' situation where Broja would either play and grow in price ahead of a summer transfer, or they would bank the loan fee.

Speaking last month, Silva said: "He has to wait for his chance. We really believe he is the right guy to be here. He arrived on deadline day before the Burnley game and he had 20 minutes on the pitch but Rodrigo scored and then the game after Rodrigo scored twice.

"Unfortunately for him, last week he was unwell and missed the match but now he is available and I will decide what the best solution will be to start the game. He's working hard at a different club with a different style and he needs time to adapt and understand things. It takes time but we can see his quality."
