Their achiles heels were laid bare again as goal scoring problems highlighted their defeat to Brentford, leaving Frank Lampard with a total of nine defeats in his last 10 Premier League games.

They have just scored once under Lampard heading into the weekend’s game against Arsenal but Lampard who came into his press conference after the press conference bulish says the squad had underlying problems and some of the problems will need time to sort out.

He told a packed press room in Stamford Bridge: “We’ll see about that. You’re right about what can you do because this is a problem that predates me.

“When there aren’t many goals you also have to start a lineup tactically, that’s what we did against Madrid, Maybe a fresh Auba scores those goals. It’s a clear issue with the squad.”
