Chelsea’s troubled season cannot end soon enough for every one at the club but manager Frank Lampard says he felt for his players despite the 2-0 defeat to Brentford at home.

The Blues have now lost all five games under Lampard who was appointed on April 3 to try and steady the ship with results not being up to standard under Graham Potter.

Their achiles heels were laid bare again as goal scoring problems highlighted their defeat to Brentford, leaving Frank Lampard with a total of nine defeats in his last 10 Premier League games.

They have just scored once under Lampard heading into the weekend’s game against Arsenal but Lampard who came into his press conference after the press conference bulish says the squad had underlying problems and some of the problems will need time to sort out.

He told a packed press room in Stamford Bridge: “We’ll see about that. You’re right about what can you do because this is a problem that predates me.

“When there aren’t many goals you also have to start a lineup tactically, that’s what we did against Madrid, Maybe a fresh Auba scores those goals. It’s a clear issue with the squad.”

The board were hoping the appointmnet of Lampard might giove the team a boost in the midst of adversity but five defeats in five is worrying and with reports that they are close to agreeing a deal with former Tottenham manager Pochettino to take up the coaching, they’ll have to work out of he starts now or wait till the summer to take the team for pre-season.
