What Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has said about calls for Adam Wharton to go to the Euros

Adam Wharton has been sensational since he joined Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has asked everyone to remain calm as calls for the impressive midfielder Adam Wharton to be included in the England team for the Euros grows by the day.

The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder has wasted little time in adapting to the Premier League and he looks so at home when playing against some of the more established names in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has started every game since the former Eintracht Frankfurt manager took over and he has two assists from all the 13 games he’s been involved in. Asked what he thought of the growing calls for his midfielder to make the big jump to the Three Lions, Palace boss Glasner said: “He has stepped up so quickly and adapted to Premier League football and the intensity, the speed of the game.

“His decision-making, his pre-orientation and his solutions with one or two touches are amazing.

“But also, we have to stay calm. I always wish the best for my players and the more successful, the more international games the better it is because everybody wants to play for his home country.

“But it was in March for the international break he was nominated for the U20 squad, not for the U21s. He was then in the second game and he played just some minutes as he was a substitute.

“I don’t know if it’s the right moment now to talk about the Euros, but he will have a fantastic career. Because, again, he’s a very good guy and an excellent football player.”

The Eagles looking to go undefeated in the remaining games

Glasner will hope that his midfielder Wharton continues to dominate games and help them remain undefeated for the remaining four games of the season.

They have won three of their last four games and drawn the other with Glasner admitting he’d give them more days off if they continued to add to their points tally.

He added: “We had a deal — the more points, the more days off."

They will take on Manchester United at Selhurst Park on Monday night at a time when their lofty visitors are desperately in need of three points to keep alive their hopes of securing Europa League football.
