Premier League makes match official decision ahead of Crystal Palace vs Everton
Crystal Palace welcome Everton to Selhurst Park this weekend for the Saturday evening game.
Crystal Palace will be looking to continue their strong run of form as they welcome Everton to Selhurst Park on Saturday, who are also in strong form under David Moyes.
Oliver Glasner’s side come off a 2-0 win against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup, which took them through to the fifth round where they will play against Millwall. Everton drew 2-2 with rivals Liverpool in what was a fiery affair on Wednesday night.
It left midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure picking up a red card at the end of the match after Everton’s 98th-minute equaliser, meaning that he will miss the game against Palace on Saturday due to a suspension.
The Toffees sit 15th in the Premier League table, 10 points above the relegation zone, after winning three of their last four league matches. Palace meanwhile are three places and just three points ahead of Everton after they have also won three of their last four league games.
Premier League makes referee appointments for Palace vs Everton
The Premier League has appointed Anthony Taylor as the referee for Saturday’s game. He has taken charge of 29 games in all competitions this season, showing 110 yellow cards, an average of 3.79 per game.
Taylor has also shown three red cards this season, with two of them coming in the Premier League. He was last seen in charge of a game between RB Salzburg and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League at the end of January. He has refereed in just one Palace game this season, a 2-2 draw against Wolves in November.
Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn have been appointed as the assistants for Taylor on Saturday. Beswick has been an official in nine games this season, including working with Taylor in the Champions League game last time out. Whereas Nunn has been involved in the same nine games as Beswick, the two work as a pair frequently, and have worked with Anthony Taylor on several occasions this season.
Stuart Atwell will be the fourth official, he has been the referee in 17 games this season, showing 62 yellow cards and two red cards. He was last seen as the referee in a Premier League game between Chelsea and West Ham, which finished 2-1 to the Blues on transfer deadline day.
Finally, Michael Salisbury has been appointed as the VAR. He has refereed in 13 games this season, including Crystal Palace’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham in November, when he sent off Daichi Kamada in the 76th minute.
