Massive Crystal Palace boost expected as Oliver Glasner eyes 27-year-old midfield maestro in the summer

Crystal Palace have shown interest in signing Leicester City’s Nigerian midfielder in the summer.

Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign Leicester City’s Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi according to South London Press. The 27-year-old’s contract with the Foxes comes to an end in the summer and a number of Premier League clubs have shown interest in him.

The report further states that the Eagles manager is looking to generate competition and boost his options ahead of what could be a pivotal season for the club as they look to finish in the top half of the season and show ambition under manager Oliver Glasner.

Ndidi has made 271 appearances for the Foxes – scoring 17 goals and picking up 17 assists – since joining from Genk in 2017.

The Eagles already have the young Adam Wharton who arrived at the club in February this year from Championship side Blackburn and has started every game under their Austrian manager.  Cheick Doucoure who has barely played this season due to a knee injury is expected back at the beginning of next season while Will Hughes, Joel Ward, Nathan Ferguson and James Tomkins can all do a job at the heart of midfield.

But Ndidi is a player with experience in the Premier League and was touted as the natural replacement for N’Golo Kante when he first arrived at the King Power stadium in 2017.

Eagles flying at the moment

The Eagles have won their last three games which included beating Liverpool at Anfied, West Ham United at Selhurst and Europa League-chasing Newcastle United

The impact new manager Glasner has had in the last few days has raised expectations and lifted moods ahead of the final stretch of the season.

They face Fulham this weekend as favourites to get all three points even though their newfound form might have come too late for them to gatecrash into the top half of what has certainly been a challenging yet promising campaign in south London.
