Fabrizio Romano: Oliver Glasner future update emerges as Crystal Palace boss linked with Man United job
Crystal Palace are one of the form teams in the Premier League despite an uncertain summer
After a confusing summer for Crystal Palace, if you had told Eagles fans they would be in the Champions League places come October they would have struggled to believe you.

Following Saturday’s last-gasp victory over leaders Liverpool, the Eagles are sitting pretty in third place as the only remaining unbeaten side in the Premier League after six games.
Their start to the season has been a remarkable achievement following a summer where star man Eberechi Eze was sold to Arsenal, the club had court issues which resulted in their demotion to the UEFA Conference League, and captain Marc Guehi saw a transfer to Liverpool blocked in the final hours of deadline day.
Much of the credit must go down to manager Oliver Glasner, who has built an outstanding Palace side in his 18 months at the club. He has recently been linked with the Manchester United job as speculation grows about the Austrian’s future.
Glasner ‘fully focused’ on Crystal Palace - Romano
As pressure on Man United head coach Ruben Amorim intensifies, possible managerial targets the club are considering to replace the Portuguese have emerged - with Glasner believed to be firmly on this list.
TalkSPORT recently named a three-man shortlist considered by the United hierarchy, featuring Glasner alongside Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and former England boss Gareth Southgate.
Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update regarding the future of Glasner, in what will be a boost to Palace fans as he remains focused on the south London club at present.
Romano said for GiveMeSport on his latest email newsletter: “Glasner is fully focused on Palace and the club is giving him what he wants. This said, if top clubs arrive in near future that’s a different story.”
Asked the question of whether Crystal Palace have concerns over losing Glasner due to his contract situation, Romano assured fans that he does not appear close to an exit at present, though that could still change in the future. Elsewhere in the newsletter, he stated that there are currently “no movements” surrounding Amorim and United, suggesting the Portuguese is unlikely to get the sack ahead of the international break.
Crystal Palace must prioritise keeping Glasner with new deal
Glasner has already entered the last 12 months of his contract, which ends in July 2026, and the club are reportedly making an effort behind the scenes to convince the 51-year-old to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park and avoid him walking away next summer. They are hopeful of securing a new deal before January according to reports, although the situation remains a concerning one.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has transformed Palace from a club looking over their shoulders at relegation to FA Cup winners, European qualification and, as things stand, they look increasingly likely to secure a first-ever top-half Premier League finish or even challenge for Europe once again this season.
There is no doubt that the manager has been the key asset behind their recent success. The fact that star names such as Eze and Michael Olise have left and yet things have improved on the pitch reflects the impact that Glasner has had on the club, with negotiating a new contract a key priority for chairman Steve Parish and the board if the Eagles are to continue moving forward and breaking new ground on the pitch.
