Crystal Palace face competition for 24-year-old as Champions League club join 'race' for Wolves target

Crystal Palace have been linked with the player and have until the deadline to bring in some new faces

Crystal Palace have made a decent start to the new season and have the chance to do some late transfer business on deadline day. The Eagles sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal last week so will need to replace his influence and goals. They have the deadline at 7pm to complete any final deals.

Oliver Glasner’s side won 3-0 away at Aston Villa last time out. Jean-Philippe Mateta, Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr got their goals at Ewood Park. The South London outfit have five points on the board from their first three Premier League fixtures.

Update emerges regarding Crystal Palace-linked Nicolas Raskin

According to Danish news outlet Bold, Crystal Palace-linked Nicolas Raskin at Rangers has emerged on the radar of FC Copenhagen and they are in the ‘race’ for his signature. HLN have claimed the Eagles and Wolves are admirers. However, the pair face fresh competition from Scandinavia.

Raskin, 24, has been on the books at Ibrox since 2023. He has since become one of the Gers’ most prized assets but appears to be a wanted man. They are likely to face a battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.

The Eagles could see him as someone to boost their midfield department. If they signed him, he would give them another option to pick from in the middle of the park and more competition and depth in that particular area of the pitch. In addition, he would compete with the likes of Adam Wharton, Jefferson Lerma and Will Hughes for a place in the starting XI.

Raskin has made 98 appearances for Rangers so far to date, three of which have come this term, and he has scored six goals. Prior to his switch to Scotland, he started his career at Genk and rose up through their ranks. He then made the transfer to their Belgian Pro League opponents Standard Liege and went on to play 95 matches, finding the net five times.

What has said Rangers boss Russell Martin said about Crystal Palace target Nicolas Raskin?

Rangers boss Russell Martin has poured cold water on talk that he has fallen out with Raskin. The player was left out of their Old Firm clash against Celtic over the weekend. The Glasgow rivals played out a 0-0 draw.

Speaking ahead of that fixture, Martin said: “Everyone’s here and everyone’s available. The squad and team will be picked on what we think is the best way to win the game. Nico was in training today. I’ve just said to you, the whole squad is here. Things can change, transfer window’s open so I can’t say to you that anybody is going to definitely be in the squad or not.”

When asked about his relationship with the player, he added: “I would describe my relationship with all the players as honest and open, and I don’t think you can have anything apart from that. There’s not a breakdown in any relationships here. If it’s honest and open then there can’t be a breakdown in any relationships.”
