Crystal Palace to open contract talks with 'consistent' £40k-a-week star
Crystal Palace are reportedly set to pen down a new contract for one of their most consistent stars, Tyrick Mitchell.
This summer, the Eagles enjoyed an exceptionally successful transfer window which saw them keep Newcastle target Marc Guehi and 25-year-old star man Eberechi Eze. While Michael Olise departed for £50m to Bayern Munich, Glasner brought in the likes of Arsenal academy graduate Eddie Nketiah and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah to strengthen his side.

Mitchell, 25, is in the final year of his current Selhurst Park contract but has quickly become an ever-present figure in Oliver Glasner’s side, playing every minute of the Eagles’ four games so far this season.
According to reports from Football Insider, to mark his importance within the squad, Glasner is now wanting to tie him down on fresh terms to keep him in south London beyond next summer.
The defender came through Palace’s youth system and was brought into the first team in 2020. Palace view him as a reliable and consistent performer and he has maintained a solid record with injuries. He has 135 Premier League appearances to his name as well as three goals.

According to Spotrac, the defender is currently on a deal worth £40,000-per-week but a new contract will likely see him receive a significant pay rise should an agreement between club and player be reached.
The same is being said of Marc Guehi who, despite the club receiving an offer of £65m for the England international from Newcastle, remains in Croydon. It has already been reported by Football Insider that the £50,000-a-week star is set to undergo contract negotiations with his current club over a potentially improved deal that will aim to keep him with the Eagles beyond next summer’s current end-point.
