Crystal Palace could be set for further departures as Leicester star sparks three-way battle

Newly promoted Leicester are said to be eyeing up a shock move for Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew as the future of Foxes star Tom Cannon hangs in the balance.

Leicester are back in the Premier League, after just one campaign in the Championship and are on the hunt for potential competition in the forward line with Cannon enjoying plenty of attention from clubs in the EFL second-tier.

The 21-year-old has sparked a three-club battle, but Leicester are still to decide if they are willing to let him go. Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is said to be keen on acquiring Cannon after losing Oli McBurnie to Las Palmas. However, the Blades boss is set to face quite the struggle to acquire Cannon’ signature with the Republic of Ireland international also of interest to West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.

The two sides have been eyeing a loan move for the Foxes striker who has made just 13 league appearances for Leicester since joining from Preston North End last summer. Stoke may well be in pole position if they offer to cover the large chunk of his wages but whoever acquires the rising star will have to convince him that he will start as Cannon seeks to increase his game time.

With the Foxes therefore likely to lose the Everton academy graduate, they have since turned their attention to bringing in 32-year-old Crystal Palace and Ghanaian star Ayew. The forward has also received plenty of interest from Saudi Pro League clubs this summer but if he is to make any move away from the Eagles, the latest reports from the Sun indicate he could well remain in the Premier League.

Last campaign, Ayew scored four goals and provided eight further assists in 37 appearances as he battled for a place in the starting line-up against the likes of Jean-Phillipe Mateta and Eberechi Eze. He has played a pivotal role for Palace since moving to Selhurst Park from Swansea in 2018 and has produced 23 goals and 22 assists in 211 appearances.

He was signed on a permanent deal for £2.5m in 2019 and signed a contract extension in November 2023 which should see him remain at the club until June 2025.
