Manchester City are said to be the latest club to express an interest in a Crystal Palace star, with a number of Eagles men currently attracting attention. Palace have recruited well over recent years, using some of the big fees they have received wisely.
The sales of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Michael Olise have brought in big money, and the money has been spent well, snapping up the likes of Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Hide AdEze and Mateta are just a couple of the players who are attracting interest from elsewhere ahead of the summer, with Marc Guehi also being pursued. Palace are not likely to sell all of those players, but they could allow one or two to depart as part of their now successful model of agreeing a big sale and using that money to strengthen the squad, often signing younger players who can develop into significant talents.
Another player who is reportedly attracting interest is midfielder Adam Wharton, who burst onto the scene with the Eagles having already impressed with Blackburn Rovers. Wharton won himself a spot in the England squad last summer, but it hasn’t been plain-sailing for the defensive midfielder this season.
Wharton has only made nine Premier League appearances due to missing 14 games with a groin injury that required surgery. He returned at the very end of Palace’s last Premier League game, and he started the FA Cup clash with Doncaster Rovers on Monday. According to Football Insider, City are now regularly scouting Wharton as they keep an eye on defensive midfielders in a bid to add better depth for Rodri.
The Spaniard has missed much of this season through a knee injury that will keep him out until next season, and there is no doubting his importance to City’s system. The Citizens have already been burnt in that department, though, signing Kalvin Phillips on big money only for the deal to prove a bad investment. City will surely be more careful in their next attempt to add cover for Rodri, and they are reportedly doing their homework on Wharton.
