Daniel Munoz has scored 19 goals for Genk since joining them in 2020 as a right-back.

Genk right-back Daniel Munoz has gone on strike to try and force a move to Crystal Palace before the transfer window shuts next week, LondonWorld has been told. The 27-year-old has been linked to the south London club all winter with Palace boss Roy Hodgson admitting he's watched a few videos of the right back.

Hodgson said last week: “Yes, I’ve seen a video of him. He looks like a good player. I’ve only seen a video of him, but on the video, he looked good.”

The Colombian is an attacking full-back who fits what Palace are looking for in an attacking right back but Genk are holding out for a transfer fee of £8.6million to let him go. Joel Ward is 34, and Nathaniel Clyne, 32, are both out of contract in the summer so there is a real need for a new fullback in south London.

Munoz joined Genk in 2020 and has played 48 games for the Belgian club already, scoring 19 goals and assisting 20, making him one of the best-attacking full-backs in Europe at the moment. He's also the first choice right back for his country.

Palace need a league win

Crystal Palace are currently 15th on the league table, winning only five of the 21 games they've played so far with manager Hodgson under massive pressure to turn things around quickly. The Eagles will take on Sheffield United next before a derby game against Brighton and Hove Albion follows.

Eagles fans will hope that by the time they travel to the Amex, they will have signed Munoz after missing out on Kalvin Phillips to West Ham United.
