Crystal Palace handed fresh injury blow as Michael Olise and Marc Guehi updates given

Crystal Palace are optimistic Marc Guehi will be out for three weeks but Michael Olise will take time.

Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise is set for some time on the treatment table after picking up a hamstring injury in the 4-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday. The young French forward lasted nine minutes after being introduced at half time at the Amex.

Those nine minutes now mean he will now sit out the next two months, LondonWorld sources have confirmed in what is the latest blow to manager Roy Hodsgon who is fighting to see out this campaign. There had been doubts over Olise's fitness but Hodgson took the risk to play him.

Asked why he brought him in despite the obvious injury concerns, manager Hodsgon said after the defeat in Sussex: "I was told that he couldn’t start the game and I was quite comfortable with that.

"They told me - and he told me - that he was fine to be on the bench and to play in the second half. Unfortunately I didn't know that was going to lead to a recurrence of his injury. That’s exactly what we did."

There is however some good news surrounding defender Marc Guehi who also pulled out of the game due a knee injury he suffered. The initial diagnosis is that the injury is not as bad as first feared and he won't be out for a long period. Three weeks could be enough to see him back to training.

Sources say Guehi will be carefully monitored in the next couple of weeks before being integrated back into intense workout. Palace will take on Chelsea on Monday night with the Eagles desperate for three points.
