Crystal Palace kick-start the new Premier League this Friday.

The Eagles are in action against London rivals Arsenal at Selhurst Park and will be looking to begin with a positive result.

They have spent pre-season in Singapore and Australia as they look ahead to another year in the top flight.

Here is the latest news and rumours coming out of the club today....

New defender on way

Crystal Palace have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Larne defender Kofi Balmer.

Patrick Viera’s side are looking to lure the youngster to England as they keep one eye on the future.

The Belfast Telegraph report that he is on the ‘verge’ of a move now with only the agreement of personal terms needed for the deal to go through.

Blow in pursuit of midfielder

The Eagles have been dealt a big blow in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

They have been keen to bring the England international back to the club this summer following Conor Gallagher’s return to Stamford Bridge after the expiration of his loan deal.

However, as reported by The Telegraph reporter Matt Law, he has ‘no desire’ to leave the Blues in this transfer window.

Squad numbers are out

Crystal Palace have released their new squad numbers on their official club website.

In terms of their new signings, Cheick Doucouré will wear 28, Chris Richards 26, Malcolm Ebiowei 23, Luke Plange 48 and Sam Johnstone 21.

Will Hughes has swapped to 19 as well.
