Patrick Vieira will be hoping that the injury to defender Tyrick Mitchell is not serious as Eagles look to return to winning ways against Brentford on Tuesday night.

The English left-back was enjoying his game before coming off in the second half due to an injury.

Palace took a two goal lead into the break, but a brilliant second half performance from Manchester City including an Erling Haaland hat-trick, his first in the Premier League secured a 4-2 victory for the Champions.

Palace came into the game on the back of two victories, one against Aston Villa in the Premier League and the other, against Oxford in the League Cup.

But when City play at the level they did in the second half, not many teams can stand their wrath, and Vieira will now be concerned about the injury to left-back Mitchell with barely 48 hours to the game against Brentford.

The Eagles are expected to win against the Bees having shown enough against the Champions to have at least gotten a point from the game.

Vieira was already without star man Wlifried Zaha, who missed the trip to Manchester due to a knock he picked up against Villa.

James McArthur, James Tomkins and  Nathan Ferguson are all long-term absentees, and the Palace boss Vieira will be hoping that both Zaha and Mitchell are not added to the list of injured players on Tuesday night.

Zaha is in the last year of his contract and there have been reports linking him with a move away from Selhurst, but he is playing his best football at the moment for the south London club.

After what has been a difficult start to the season, games against Brentford, Newcastle and Manchester United are next, and they will test the resolve of this Palace team.
