Crystal Palace youngster Scott Banks has been a hit on loan at Bradford City in League Two and scored the Bantams over the weekend as they beat Colchester United 2-0 at Valley Parade. The attacking midfielder has said he felt ‘amazing’ after finding the net and he is looking to help Mark Hughes’ side gain promotion to League One.

Banks, 21, was allowed to join the Yorkshire club last summer to get some experience under his belt. He has since made 20 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with three goals and two assists.

Crystal Palace will see him return at the end of this season and will have a decision to make on his future. He has been with the London club since joining in 2020 from Dundee United.

Speaking on Saturday after his goal for Bradford, he told their club website: “I am ecstatic. It was amazing to be a part of it. The atmosphere was incredible. To go finish the game like that feels amazing - I am just delighted. The Colchester game away from home was one of my first games for the club, so it was nice to do the same back to them.

“To score as well - I just feel sensational! We were under a bit of pressure. Opposition teams are always going to have a little spell of momentum, but we dug in well. We left it late, but there is no better feeling than that.”

He added: “We have got to keep consistent. We have to keep finding ways to win, and if we can continue like this, then the three points will keep coming.”

Banks has played twice for Crystal Palace’s first-team so far since his switch to Selhurst Park. He has also had loan stints away at Alloa Athletic and Dunfermline Athletic to boost his development.
