Crystal Palace are being linked with a move for Botafogo youngster Matheus Nascimento. The Brazilian club are owned by Eagles’ co-owner John Textor.

According to a report by TNT Sports, a potential switch to Selhurst Park can’t be ‘ruled out’ for the highly-rated 18-year-old. He is already a first-team regular for his current team.

Crystal Palace target emerges

Crystal Palace could see the forward as a potential player for the future. The upcoming January transfer gives the London club an opportunity to bolster their ranks ahead of the second-half of the season.

Nascimento joined Botafogo at the age of 11 and has since risen up through their academy. He was a regular for them at various youth levels before making the step up into the senior set-up.

The Brazil U20 international penned his first professional back in June 2020 and made his debut three months later in a league game against Corinthians at the age of just 16.

He has since made a total of 53 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with eight goals, five of which have come this year, and three assists. His contract at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos expires next summer.

This link to Nascimento makes sense due to Textor’s connection to the club. He also owns RWD Molenbeek in Belgium which is where Palace youngsters Luke Plange and Jake O’Brien are out on loan.
