Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Aston Villa striker Danny Ings this month. Fellow Premier League side Everton have also been credited with an interest in the forward.

That’s according to a report by The Sun, who claim the top flight duo are ‘ready’ to battle it out for his signature in this January transfer window. He is under contract at Villa Park until June 2024.

Crystal Palace would have to fork out a hefty fee if they were to lure him down to South London this winter though. That’s according to reporter Dean Jones, who has told GiveMeSport: “If he’s going to be sold, then you’re going to want to recoup a lot of that money, especially as Danny Ings, he has a level of experience and a goalscoring record in the Premier League that almost no one else in the market at the moment actually has.

“So, Ings is actually a special case, and I think you’re looking at £20 million in my eyes if you’re actually looking to get Ings on a permanent deal.”

Ings, 30, has played for Aston Villa since 2021 and has scored 14 goals in 51 games in all competitions for the Midlands outfit, seven of which have come this season. He is a vastly experienced striker in the game and has also played for the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley, Liverpool and Southampton.

Crystal Palace are sat in 12th place in the table and will be hoping they aren’t sucked into a potential relegation battle ahead of the second-half of the season. Patrick Viera’s side need to start picking up a few more points and another striking option would be very useful. However, £20million seems a lot for Ings and they may have to look elsewhere for possible attacking reinforcements.
