Crystal Palace have cancelled today's press conference after manager Roy Hodgson was 'taken ill' during a morning training session.

The veteran manager had been due to speak to the media at 1:30 pm ahead of Monday night's Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park. Hodgson is under increasing pressure as Crystal Palace boss after just four wins in 18 league matches.

A message shared on the official Crystal Palace X account at 12:55 pm read: "Unfortunately, today’s press conference will no longer take place as scheduled as Roy Hodgson was taken ill during this morning’s training session."

It comes amid reports that the Eagles are 'in talks' with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner to replace Hodgson before the former Fulham and Liverpool manager's contract expires this summer. Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna and former Nottingham Forest man Steve Cooper had previously been linked with the role.

Speaking ahead of last weekend's Chelsea defeat, the former Fulham and Liverpool boss said: “The chairman and I talk all the time, but there has been no specific talk about the future. We’re in the job to try to coach a team to be the best it can be and win as many matches as it can and, most important of all, to give fans something they want to see and can be proud of. When the fans have turned against us that’s the worst possible scenario, and you can understand it.

“We haven’t really got ourselves going after the Brentford game (a 3-1 home win at the end of December) and kicked on. We’ve had two heavy defeats but we can’t change it.

“It’s not in my control (the speculation). It doesn’t affect my daily work, stop me working with the players or selecting the team, the tactics, getting the team in the best possible shape. One has no option but to let those things pass by and accept them as a fact of football life.”
