Guehi boost

Palace have been handed a potential boost with Newcastle United reportedly lining up a back-up option amid talks over a deal for Marc Guehi. Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah has now been shortlisted in case a deal for Guehi cannot be reached.

Chelsea are reportedly asking for £25million for Chalobah, which is less than half of the £60million or so Guehi is commanding, with Palace playing hardball over their star centre-back with the new season so close. The fact Newcastle are lining up alternatives could be good news for the Eagles, who are said to have rejected three offers so far.

Kostic asking price

In a double Palace update, Juventus star Filip Kostić is reportedly a target for Oliver Glasner this month. According to Calciomercato, Palace and others are interested in winger, who has been made available by The Old Lady this summer.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have also been linked, while Palace’s links derive from Glasner having worked with Kostic at Eintracht Frankfurt previously. The report adds that Juve are asking for £6.8million to agree a deal.

Villa ‘close’ to deal

Aston Villa are said to closing in on a deal for Manchester City youth prospect Kane Taylor. Villa have spent big over recent years but are looking to ease the spending burden with the signing of younger players who will offer bigger return on investment.

Transfer ‘insider’ Fabrizio Romano has tweeted: “EXCL: Aston Villa are closing on an agreement for 2005 born midfielder Kane Taylor from Manchester City U21. Long term deal almost sealed between player and #AVFC after deal in place between the two clubs. Here we go, soon.”
