Crystal Palace defender Nathan Ferguson has signed a new one-year contract extension at the club despite playing only eight games in three years according to a report in the Evening Standard.

Ferguson joined Crystal Palace from West Brom in 2020 with high hopes, but his time in south London has been a nightmare with injuries limiting his impact and threatening to end his career.

The Eagles have shown incredible faith in the 22-year-old defender by backing and offering him a contract extension that will see him stay at the club at least till the summer of 2024 with the hope that he can stay fit and rediscover his form.

Last season he played five times in the Premier League Two and made one substitute appearance for the first team as he battled to return to full fitness without success.

The south London club are on the verge of naming Roy Hodgson as their manager for next season after he impressed in the last 10 games after taking over from Patrick Vieira.

Hodgson won five, and drew three of the last 10 games as Palace recovered from a position of weakness to finish comfortably in midtable and secure Premier League survival.

According to sources Hodgson is on holiday and will fly in this weekend where he will put pen to paper on his new deal before taking charge of pre-season training.

Crystal Palace also confirmed the signing of Jefferson Lerma who left Bournemouth after his contract expired, the biggest game changer though is Wilfried Zaha who is yet to make up his mind about his next club. Zaha has offers from Saudi, PSG, and Lazio but will not rush into making a decision with Eagles fans anxiously waiting to see if they’ve seen the last of him in Palace colours.
