Crystal Palace chasing England striker and Juventus midfielder before end of transfer window

The bookies believe the Eagles want to sign Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Juventus’ Aaron Ramsey before the end of the window.

Crystal Palace are still awaiting their first signing of the January transfer window with just under two weeks to go until deadline day.

The Eagles are sat in the lower-half of the Premier League table after an inconsistent opening four months to their first season under Patrick Vieira.

There have been positives for the Frenchmen, but he will be keen to add to his squad as they look to secure a top ten finish for the first time since 2015.

The likes of Christian Benteke and Jean-Philippe Mateta have been linked with moves away from Selhurst Park over the last fortnight - but two names have remained prominent when it comes to possible additions to Vieira’s squad.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear that Nketiah will not be leaving the Emirates this month, despite reported interest from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

Arteta said: “The situation is that Eddie is our player and Eddie is going to stay here with us.

“He’s our player and he’s under contract, so he will stay with us.”

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, Vieira backed up Arteta’s comments, saying: ““I have nothing to say about him.

“He is an Arsenal player and his manager makes it clear he will stay at Arsenal. I have nothing to comment.”

Another player with Arsenal connections has been heavily linked with a move to Palace.

Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is rated at 2/1 with SkyBet to move to Selhurst Park before the end of the season as he looks to end an underwhelming stay in Serie A.

Vieira praised his fellow former Gunners midfielder earlier this month as he discussed his possible next destination.

“When you look at (Ramsey’s) pedigree and experience, I think he would improve a lot of teams in the Premier League,” he said.“

“I like the player, like a lot of players.

“He’s a terrific player and I think he can do well for teams in the Premier League.”

Ramsey looks set to leave Juventus after making just five appearances for the Serie A giants this season.

The likes of Newcastle United and Burnley have also been linked with a move for the Welsh international.
