Crystal Palace boost as Liverpool 'set' to be without six key players for weekend's Premier League game

Crystal Palace will travel to Anfield this weekend looking for their first win in five games.

Crystal Palace were well beaten by Manchester City over the weekend but they will now travel to Anfield this week looking for only their second win under new manager Oliver Glasner. The Eagles have improved performances since the Austrian manager took over, but the results haven't followed suit.

They face a Liverpool side who are desperate to return to winning ways after being held by Manchester United at Old Trafford in a pulsating game. Manager Jurgen Klopp knows that his side can not afford another slip-up if they are to win the Premier League title this season.

But Glasner will have other ideas, especially with Liverpool set to be without at least six key players for this game. The Reds are set to be without at least six key players for this game including Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is still battling a knee problem.

On Trent, Klopp said recently: “He is set to have his first training soon after the setback so fingers crossed and we will see how he responds.”

Then there is Diogo Jota, who is in a similar situation to Trent and will not be involved this weekend. Thiago Alcantara has also been absent from the Liverpool team for a while with a hip problem and is not looking like returning anytime soon.

Joel Matip, Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic are all listed as injured without a return date in sight, but there is some good news for the Reds with goalkeeper Alisson Becker who has been battling a hamstring injury, he's now back in training.

The Liverpool number one was also at Old Trafford but did not make it to the pitch. He will now have an extra week of training before the Palace game and is expected to return in the post ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher.
