'We're struggling' - Crystal Palace hit with major injury concerns ahead of Man Utd, Tottenham and Leeds clashes

Oliver Glasner has spoken about the injury issues Crystal Palace are currently facing.

Crystal Palace are dealing with a troubling injury situation ahead of clashes with Wolves, Manchester United, Tottenham and Leeds United. The Eagles are now going into a tough run of fixtures as they look to rubber-stamp their Premier League survival.

Palace are on 32 points and eight points clear of the relegation zone, and they likely need another 8-10 points to secure survival, with 12 games remaining.

The Eagles are well on their way, largely thanks to a strong start to the season that they enjoyed, but the job is not done yet, and while they did win last time out in the Premier League, wins have been hard to come by in recent times.

Injuries have not helped, and Maxence Lacroix picking up an injury in the Conference League during the week certainly hasn’t helped. Addressing that injury blow ahead of the Wolves clash and some key upcoming games, Oliver Glasner said: “How it looked like yesterday, yes, but again, we will assess him further with training in the afternoon [on Friday], after the press conference and then, we will see.

“But yeah, he had to be subbed because he had problems with his adductor and he mentioned it at half-time already, so it doesn't look really good. All others look fine, but nobody will come back.”

He added: “It looks like we’ll have to change the back three again. This was mentioned so often, it was our foundation for everything we had, our back line and the togetherness. Right at the moment, we are not that consistent in our defence, because also in all the last games we scored, but we had just one win, and this was when we had the clean sheet.

“We are struggling to get clean sheets because we are making too many mistakes. This is what we have to improve, definitely, and the next chance is on Sunday.”

Elsewhere, Eddie Nketiah is also said to have suffered a setback in his recovery.

Glasner on the Wolves clash

Wolves are cut adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table, but they did achieve an impressive comeback draw with Arsenal during the week, so their confidence levels have been raised. Speaking about the West Midlands side, Glasner said: “I think when we played them away [a 2-0 win for Palace], I mentioned before that they are playing better than all their results, but they were in this negative run and it was so tough for them.

“I still think they have many good players. They showed it against Arsenal. Also, they showed a great belief after being 2-0 down, coming back. They are now quite consistent in the way they are playing. Consistency always helps. They got a few players back from long-term injuries, being now more in the rhythm, like [Yerson] Mosquera, for example, in defence.

“And, yes, they have a very good midfield, with Brazilian international players, and they have huge pace on both wings, with [Jackson] Tchatchoua and [Hugo] Bueno, and they have a very physical back three, with [Ladislav] Krejčí, [Santiago] Bueno and Mosquera.

“And up front, [Mateus] Mané, a young boy who needed time to adapt to the Premier League, and then [Tolu] Arokodare, a very tall Nigerian international, and then it's now getting back an experienced [Adam] Armstrong – I was told that he was the top scorer in the Championship.”
