Manchester United have agreed to a £60million fee five days after initially indicating they would be walking away from Chelsea's £65million valuation of midfielder Mason Mount.

The 24-year-old has played 13 times this calendar year and has been at Chelsea since he was six, he’s only left the club twice in brief loan spells at Vitesse and Derby County before returning to excel at the club he’s called home since.

Erik ten Hag has made Mount his prime target alongside a striker, in the end, United pushed incredibly hard to get their man which brings an end to a long saga of transfer negotiations.

The England international is currently on holiday but has agreed to fly back in next week where he will undergo his medical before penning a five-year deal on a reported £200,000-a-week wage with an option to sign another extension.

The decision to sell Mount has meant only three members of Chelsea's starting lineup that are still at the club, and they are Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, and Reece James with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, and Edouard Mendy all leaving the club this summer.

Chelsea will now look to attack their pursuit of Brighton and Hove midfielder Moisés Caicedo who has been likened to Kante as they look to build a team that is young, fresh, and takes care of itself.

New boss Mauricio Pochettino will start work next week and it is expected to get players up to speed for the next two weeks flying out to the United States for the second part of pre-season.
