Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says the club will be able to deal with losing Wesley Fofana this summer after the defender was left out of the defeat to Southampton over the weekend.

The 21-year-old is desperate to join Chelsea but Leicester are holding out for a record fee if they are to sell this summer.

The player appears unsettled and with Leicester struggling for form, Brendan Rodgers says he is convinced they will still be able to turn the tide - even if the French defender were to leave this summer.

He told reporters after the 2-1 defeat to Southampton: “The club has done that, certainly in my time and probably before.

“I came in and lost Harry that first summer, we brought in James Justin and Dennis Praet and other players who could help the squad.

“When we lost Ben Chilwell we were able to bring in Tim Castagne and Wesley.

“So the reality for a club like ours is you can’t be afraid to do that as long as it’s good business for the club, and if it’s good for the player it’s normally a win-win situation.

“But that decision then will ultimately be down to the feeling of the club.”

Chelsea fall flat at Elland Road

The Blues might have dominated Tottenham during the London derby and deserved more than a point, but at Elland Road, they were second best all game and got beaten.

The fact that new signing Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off and Reece James, normally a wing-back, was playing in centre-back has highlighted the need for a new centre-back before the transfer window closes.

Thomas Tuchel refused to publicly blame any of his players but behind the scenes he would be fuming after the 3-0 defeat at Elland Road.
