Latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours after the summer window and ahead of January

Chelsea forward Armando Broja had previously been the subject of interest from Inter Milan, who were reportedly lining up a transfer for the Albanian. Now, however, it seems that he will be staying put. According to a post on X from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio said that there is ‘no chance’ of Broja joining the Italian giants.

Ausilio was complimentary of Broja, saying that they know him ‘very well’ at Inter, but stressed that they are ‘happy with the strikers we have’. Ausilio’s full quote reads: “We won’t sign Armando Broja in January. We’re happy with the strikers we have”. “We know Broja very well, he’s back and he recently scored but there’s no chance to see him joining Inter.”

Have any other clubs been linked with Armando Broja?

Aside from Inter Milan, West Ham United were tentatively linked with a move for Broja during the 2023 summer transfer window [via La Gazella Dello Sport]. Despite these links, nothing has since materialised between the two parties. Under Mauricio Pochettino, Broja’s role at Chelsea has become increasingly prominent - as such, it seems very unlikely that he will leave the Blues any time soon.

Could Armando Broja be a key player for Chelsea this season?

After several years in Chelsea’s youth academy, having joined the Blues in 2018 from Tottenham Hotspur, Broja is finally beginning to leave his mark on Chelsea’s senior team. So far, Broja has played in four games across all competitions this season, scoring a single goal. Last season, he spent much of the campaign sidelined with a long-term knee injury.

Back in August, Pochettino stated that Broja was very much a part of his plans [via London Evening Standard]. The Blues have been searching tirelessly for a star striker - while the Albanian may not be the 30-goal centre-forward that they desire, his powerful frame and precise finishing make him an excellent rotation option.
