Chelsea have been relatively proactive this summer, splashing the cash on a number of eye-catching new signings.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Marc Cucurella all look to have bolstered Thomas Tuchel’s squad considerably, but the Blues might not be done just yet.

There are still a number of potential transfer pursuits in offing at Stamford Bridge, and we’ve taken a look at some that might happen, and some that might not, below...

Likely

Wesley Fofana

By all accounts, a deal for the French defender is moving closer and closer to completion.

Reports in France suggest that a deal worth around £84.5 million is in the pipeline, with the Blues having finally worn down Leicester City’s resolve to hang on to the 21-year-old.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but this is perhaps the most likely transfer that Chelsea could complete in the coming days.

Frenkie de Jong

The Dutchman’s future has become one of the transfer sagas of the summer.

Courted by Manchester United, forced towards an exit by Barcelona due to financial reasons, it could ultimately end up being Chelsea who secure his signature.

The Blues have been installed by many as the favourites to sign the ex-Ajax amid suggestions that he is reluctant to move to Old Trafford.

Still, United haven’t given up entirely, and an improbable stay at Camp Nou can’t be ruled out either.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

For a fleeting moment, it looked as if Thomas Tuchel could be in line for an unexpected reunion with his former Borussia Dortmund hitman.

Since then, however, the likelihood has plummeted somewhat.

Memphis Depay’s potential move to Juventus now means that cash-strapped Barcelona are under less obligation to sell Aubameyang on the cheap, and Chelsea are understandably reluctant to spend big on a 33-year-old who can often blow hot and cold.

A striker is needed though, and Tuchel has spoken openly of how much he enjoyed his previous working relationship with the ex-Arsenal star.

If his price can be driven down, this could still happen.

Unlikely

Josip Juranovic

Juranovic has made quite the impact since arriving at Celtic last summer, so much so that a number of Europe’s top sides are said to be keeping tabs on him.

Chelsea are among the chasing pack, alongside Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

The Blues are in ther market for cover at right-back, and at a reported £15 million, the Croatian could provide a relatively affordable option, but you would imagine that other positions might end up being a priority.

That, coupled with the aforementioned competition for Juranovic’s services, could put pay to this one - perhaps.

Nicolo Zaniolo

The Italian international has been heavily linked with Tottenham this summer, but recent reports suggest that Chelsea also hold an interest in luring him to the Premier League.

The Blues could be stumped, however, with contrasting claims that AS Roma are keen to retain the player’s services, or that Jose Mourinho “likes” the prospect of a swap deal that would see Spurs outcast Tanguy Ndombele head to the Italian capital.

Either way, it’s not good news for Chelsea.
