When Chelsea captain Reece James can play again after fresh injury update from Doha

Reece James hasn't played for the club since December 10th 2023 against Everton.

Chelsea captain Reece James fired an injury update from Doha in Qatar where he is currently working his way back to full fitness. The 24-year-old is itching for a return after having to undergo surgery on a troublesome hamstring two months ago.

The initial timescale for his return was three months and having already done two months and with the international break coming up later this month, James is likely to be back in the reckoning sometime in April if all goes well.

He posted a message on his Instagram page with the caption on Thursday night:  "All these setbacks I took would break you, the comeback is coming.

James also posted to his story with a video of him running on a treadmill, strapped up and monitored by the rehabilitation technology. "Countless hrs [hours] in the lab [lab coat and timer emoji]" he added.

Chelsea kept their season alive with an important 3-2 win over Leeds United this week and will now look forward to the quarter-final of the FA Cup against Leicester City. Next month, the Blues have games against Manchester UnitedSheffield and Everton before the middle of the month brings challenges in Brighton and Hove Albion, Villa and West Ham United

If he continues to recover as planned, James who has already been out for two months will be in line to return against Everton, the same side he suffered the injury against.

In his absence, Chelsea have struggled for consistency in the league even though they got to the final of the League Cup before losing to Liverpool.
