Chelsea captain Reece James is still injured, and no one at the club is willing to provide any updates publicly or privately. It is expected that Enzo Maresca will speak about his progress next Friday in his pre-game press conference ahead of the massive Premier League game against Liverpool.
When the Italian was last asked about his skipper before the break, he said: “No… unfortunately, we don't have an idea at the moment on when he will return.”

There was a time when the club’s social media handles were posting updates of him running on the grass, but that has gone quiet again, with little to no progress update. One thing the full-back has done very well so far is be present at every home game. He has supported his colleagues and always makes sure to take pictures and occasionally sign autographs for fans sitting behind the players' area.
Unwanted Record for Chelsea Club Captain
When James first burst onto the scene and helped the club win the Champions League, the view was that he would become an absolute world-beater. Although he still has time to achieve that, the recurrent nature of his injuries is raising doubts in the minds of some fans.
His injuries have meant he has spent over 500 days on the sidelines since making his debut for the club. The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during his first official game as Chelsea captain on the opening weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season. That injury caused him to miss 10 games and some England duties. Upon his return, he suffered another setback at Everton and decided to undergo surgery to address the issue, which kept him out for large parts of last season.

He performed well in pre-season before suffering a setback on the eve of the final pre-season game against Inter Milan. When LondonWorld asked manager Maresca if the setback was related to the same hamstring he had surgery on, Maresca said: “I don’t know.”
