Premier League club confirm signing of a player Chelsea paid £15m for with brilliant statement
Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of former Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley after he impressed heavily at Luton Town last season. The English midfielder would consider himself unlucky not to have made the Three Lions team currently at the Euros, having excelled at Luton where he played 32 league games, scored five goals, and made four assists.

Villa fans are well-acquainted with Barkley, who joined from Chelsea in September 2020 on loan for the season. The club released a statement to confirm his arrival on Monday afternoon:
“Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Ross Barkley from Luton Town. Barkley returns to Villa Park on a permanent basis, having enjoyed a loan spell in claret and blue during the 2020/21 season.

Other Premier League clubs were reportedly interested in him, but the lure of playing under a manager like Unai Emery and the opportunity for Champions League football made it an easy decision in the end.
He joins Ian Maatsen, who Villa have also confirmed after agreeing to a stunning £37 million deal with Chelsea for his services.
