With that in mind, here is Saturday’s Chelsea-related transfer speculation...

Chelsea make De Jong offer

Chelsea have made an offer to Barcelona for midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to Sport.

The Blues have emerged as a potential suitor for the Dutchman in recent days, and have reportedly firmed up their interest with an actual bid.

It is understood that Thomas Tuchel’s side have put together a package worth in excess of £59 million, as well as wing-back Marcos Alonso.

Sport claim that Chelsea are “convinced” a deal can be struck for the 25-year-old.

It is also suggested that in the event of De Jong deciding against a move to Stamford Bridge, Alonso could still be sold to Barcelona for less than £8.4 million.

Blues submit fresh Fofana bid

Leicester City have rejected a fresh bid from Chelsea for defender Wesley Fofana, but the Blues are determined to wrap up a deal for the player, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer guru has claimed that Stamford Bridge chiefs have tabled an offer worth in excess of £70 million, but have met resistance from the Foxes, who maintain that the Frenchman is not for sale.

For his part, Fofana is said to be absolutely onboard with the prospect of a move to West London.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano said: Chelsea have submitted a fresh proposal for Wesley Fofana on Friday in excess of £70m.

“Leicester have turned down the proposal, Rodgers also insists he’s not for sale.

”But Chelsea are determined to try again for Fofana. The player would be 100% keen on the move.”

Everton retain an interest in Chelsea’s Armando Broja and have continued to explore the feasibility of a move in recent weeks, according to The Athletic.

The Blues are still yet to make a decision on the striker’s future, but are understood to value the Albanian at around £30 million.

Due to financial restrictions, a loan agreement is said to be of particular interest to Everton.
