Newcastle United vs Chelsea confirmed injury news as 12 ruled out and 1 doubt
A look at the confirmed injury news ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United.
Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Newcastle United hoping to make it three straight wins across all competitions. The Blues beat Everton in the Premier League last week and followed that up with a Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea.

Newcastle also won in the cup during the week, beating Fulham with a stoppage time goal, and that followed a crushing derby defeat to Sunderland that left them in the bottom half. Still, only six points separate these two teams currently. Here we round up the confirmed injury news surrounding both teams following the managerial press conferences.
Tino Livramento - Out
Livramento picked up a knee injury against Fulham. Howe has said: “We don't think it's a serious injury. The complication we have is that Tino has injured that knee before in a very similar area. That always makes the potential recovery time a little bit longer. I don't think we'll see him possibly before 2026."
Lewis Hall - Doubt
Hall missed out during the week but he has a chance of featuring here. Howe has said: “He could be [available for tomorrow]. He felt some fatigue in his hamstring after the Sunderland game so he had a scan which didn't reveal too much so we'll see."
Dan Burn - Out
Burn is going to be out until late January. Howe said this week: “That was a big blow for us. I think he's been excellent in recent weeks. So, yeah, it's a rib problem with some issue with his lungs. We wish him well - it will probably be around 4-6 weeks.”
Kieran Trippier - Out
Howe said this week: “Emil Krafth and Kieran Trippier are still out, and their target date will be around the new year, we think.”
Emil Krafth - Out
The same update as above applies to Krafth.
Sven Botman - Out
Botman is expected to remain out until January with a back issue. Howe has said: “With Sven, we're not entirely sure when he'll return. He's made good progress, but he's not ready to play yet.”
Nick Pope - Out
There is no indication Pope will be back here.
Jamaal Lascelles - Out
Lascelles has an ankle issue that will keep him out for at least a couple of weeks more.
Estevao Willian - Out
Maresca has said: “We probably have Liam Delap and Estevao Willian back for the game against Aston Villa [on 27 December), which is good news.”
Liam Delap - Out
On top of the above, Maresca added: “‘With Liam, we said since he suffered the injury (shoulder) that we didn’t know exactly for how long he would be out, but he is progressing very well.”
Romeo Lavia - Out
Lavia is not expected back from his hamstring issue until early January.
Levi Colwill - Out
Colwill is out for the season with a serious knee injury. It was confirmed back in August: “Levi has today undergone successful surgery [for] an ACL injury. Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action. Levi will now begin his recovery and be supported by the medical department at Cobham during his rehab phase.”
Dario Essugo - Out
Essugo is likely to return in January. Maresca has said: “Dario, he was okay, started some sessions with us, but he needs to slow down a little bit and will be out, but we hope nothing important. We hope he will be fine.”
Mykhailo Mudryk - Out (Suspended)
Mudryk is suspended. A club statement in the summer read: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.” Mudryk is not included in the final count due to the nature of his absence.
