Mauricio Pochettino to turn to 21y/o game changer to solve goalscoring crisis vs Brighton

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to turn to summer signing Cole Palmer to help provide the creative spark that will help the team to their first win in almost a month.

The Blues have had a difficult start to the season and have won just one of their six league games and sit 14th on the table, coming into the Carabao Cup game against Brighton this evening.

Palmer who signed from Manchester City in the summer has impressed in the period he’s been on the pitch and given there will be a few changes, Pochettino might bring in the 21-year-old to add a of goal-scoring threat to his team.

The Cheslea boss admitted Palmer fits the project at Chelsea and was looking forward to working with him when his signing was confirmed.

He said: “I think he fits the project, he is a young, talented player. Of course, he decided to come because he expects to play maybe more and be more important here [than at Man City], but that is not the most important thing. He wanted to come because he has seen the Chelsea project is for him.”

Raheem Sterling has been the team’s top scorer this season and even though he’s not scored since the international break, he defintely should have had one when they lost to Aston Villa at the weekend.

Pochettino admitted the result was frustrating given they played well but were let down by their finishing. The Chelsea boss added: “I think players like Nico who are so young and feeling the Premier League and (are) learning, they need time.

“In this type of game, we are competing and want to win and football is about winning but also players, when they are young, need to learn, and experience and make mistakes.

“That’s why we feel disappointed as there are too many situations like this and I agree with you too many things like this and in the end we are losing the game and we are in situation we need to change as soon as possible.”
