Mauricio Pochettino's 'respectful' response to reports Chelsea could break another British transfer record

Chelsea have been linked with Evan Ferguson this week and Mauricio Pochettino has had to address the report.

Chelsea have been linked to Brighton's Evan Ferguson in recent weeks but manager Mauricio Pochettino says he's unaware of any interest in the forward or any striker after their 1-0 win over Fulham

The Blues have a good relationship with Brighton having paid decent money for Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo recently. They also signed Graham Potter from the Seagulls after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel

Ferguson has recently signed a new deal with Brighton thought to value him at around £115million, so the west London club will have to break another British record to secure his signature.

Asked if interest in the Irish striker were real, Pochettino said: "No. You know very well I don't talk about rumours or players that are in a different club. I am so respectful. We are not talking. We are assessing the squad and if something happens we will communicate that to you. At the moment we didn't take any decision.

"I never said we need a centre-forward. After that create a problem with my people. I didn't say that yesterday that we need it. I said we are working like other clubs. Trying to assess and see the market and all of the situations that can appear. Most important is the club is ready to act in one or another direction. I never said we need to add another player."

Chelsea have now won three league games on the spin and won four of their last five home games going into their 10-day break before the next game.
