Mauricio Pochettino has responded to a question about Marc Cucurella amid ongoing transfer speculation.

Mauricio Pochettino has issued an update on the future of Chelsea star Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella could be headed for pastures new before Friday’s deadline, be it on loan or on a permanent deal. Manchester United are said to be interested in the Spaniard as they look to add depth at full-back.

Cucurella has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, with Ben Chilwell the main starter on the left, and he may be allowed to leave in a bid to get regular football. While Chelsea could also do with saving some money after more spending this summer, be that saving on wages or bringing in a fee.

United are said to be working on a deal, but in the meantime, Cucurella has started for Chelsea in a Carabao Cup second round win over AFC Wimbledon. And speaking after the clash, Pochettino issed an update of sorts on the situation.

“I don’t know anything (about Cucurella),” Pochettino said. “All the players that are involved every day on the training ground with us are in our plans. Then, things happen, it’s the decision of both the club and the player, and if something happens in the next few days, we will communicate to you.”

The latest reports vary between a possible loan deal involving United and a permanent deal, but it seems the former is more likely. Initial reports claimed Chelsea were asking for a loan fee of £7million, but it’s now claimed United will pay the Spaniard’s wages while agreeing to pay a loan fee of around £3million.

Chelsea signed Cucurella for around £60million in August of last year, and he is tied down to a contract until 2028 at Stamford Bridge.
