Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is encountering problems within the dressing room ahead of Chelsea's clash with the Red Devils.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is among the candidates to win November's Premier League manager of the month - but the Red Devils' troubles in the dressing room are growing more and more documented ahead of their game against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

According to ESPN, Ten Hag is fighting to keep some of the club's more important players in 'onside' with a group of first-team players said to be 'disillusioned' with the Dutchman following last weekend's loss at Newcastle United. Ten Hag has already fallen out publicly with Jadon Sancho, with the winger not featuring for the club since the spat. Ten Hag is said to have plenty of support, as he looks to avoid a repeat of the Sancho situation.

Recently, Lisandro Martinez has been brought back into the dressing room early, despite still being in recovery from his ankle injury. He is thought to be a staunch supporter of Ten Hag, which should bolster the influence of the former Ajax manager within the United squad. Casemiro, another of Ten Hag's main backers, is also out with an injury.

Can Chelsea take advantage of this?

Manchester United are certainly disunited as things stand, but likewise, Chelsea's squad does not consist of the most tight-knit group of players - largely due to its size. However, their dressing room problems are nowhere near as public as United's are.

Chelsea's recent form has been spotty to say the least. They have won just two of their last six games, but they were victorious last time out against Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton. United, on the other hand, have won four of their last six Premier League fixtures - the Blues will be hoping that the Red Devils' recent turmoil will offset their performance on the night.

In their last game, United were beaten by a score of 1-0 at the hands of Newcastle- how the Red Devils respond to this defeat will be very telling as to the current state of the atmosphere in the club.
