One Chelsea star has been praised for his big impact during Sunday’s big win over Fulham.

Chelsea star Levi Colwill has been raving about one of the club’s best young players after a day to remember down the road at Craven Cottage. The Blues have been in a disappointing run of form, and they looked to be heading for another defeat against a Cottagers side searching for European qualification of their own.

The Blues were one down going into the second half, and while they were much-improved after the break, they couldn’t find a way through, headed for another blow in their bid to land a top five finish and Champions League football.

That was until 19-year-old talent Tyrique George produced a superb low shot to find the far bottom corner with seven minutes remaining until the 90’. That goal got Chelsea level, and Pedro Neto scored a winner in stoppage time with a fantastic strike high in the net.

George played a key role, and Enzo Maresca clearly thinks a lot of the youngster, turning to him in a point of high responsibility, with Chelsea losing and with their Champions League hopes very much in the air.

But not only is Maresca a big fan of George’s, but it seems the whole squad is, with Levi Colwill telling Chelsea TV after the game: “We all know how good of a player he is, and for him to come in and score gives him that confidence boost, and hopefully he keeps pushing and tries to get into our side. That’s why he’s here. He is an amazing player, and he’s not there to sit on the bench, he is here to come and play.”

On the impact of George and fellow youngster Josh Acheampong, Colwill added: “We see them every day. We see him and Josh and we see how good they are, and we know exactly what we can bring to our side. So, to see him come on and score, I’m so happy for him.”

Maresca also spoke about George after the game, saying: “I’m very happy for Tyrique, him and Josh Acheampong, both from the academy, we decided to promote them because they are good talent, [and] they have to [keep] working hard. Pedro's goal, we all know that Pedro is better in the right side but we also have Noni, we have also Jadon, so I try to decide game by game but Pedro is doing well since he arrived here.”

Asked about Neto and his goal, Colwill said: “We all know how good he is, too. He has shown it all season. His energy and his goal, it was a great finish. He is a great personality, too, and to see his celebration, yeah...I loved it.”

Chelsea are now back in the thick of the race for a top five spot, two points behind Newcastle United in third and one behind Manchester City in fourth. But in a clear example of how close the race for a Champions League spot is, Nottingham Forest are just goal difference behind Chelsea in fifth, still to play on Monday night, and Aston Villa are also just goal difference behind.
