Young Chelsea goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe has joined Doncaster Rovers for the season.

League Two side Doncaster Rovers have signed goalkeeper Ted Sharman-Lowe on a season-long loan from Premier League side Chelsea.

Chelsea confirmed the signing on their website: “Ted Sharman-Lowe has joined Doncaster. The young goalkeeper, who recently signed a new deal to extend his Chelsea stay, will team up with Grant McCann’s side as they look to push for promotion from League Two. Rovers finished fifth last season before ending their campaign with a defeat to Crewe Alexandra in the League Two play-offs."

Sharman-Lowe spent time on loan with Bromley in the National League last season before returning to Chelsea in January. He joined Chelsea from Burton Albion in September 2021 and is tipped to become one of the goalkeepers of his generation, so the loan deal is meant to provide him with a platform to build his skills and gain valuable experience.

This loan to Doncaster is a significant step up, allowing him to taste competitive football at the next stage of his development. He is the sixth signing for the new campaign for Rovers, following Joe Sbarra, Harry Clifton, Jordan Gibson, Tom Nixon, and Ephraim Yeboah.

Chelsea First Team Eyeing Another Goalkeeper

While young Sharman-Lowe has been sent out on loan, Chelsea is still in the market for another goalkeeper, LondonWorld has been told.

They were considering Burnley’s England goalkeeper James Trafford for this summer, though it now looks like he will be heading to Newcastle. Last season, Đorđe Petrović ended up being the number one at the club, partly due to Robert Sanchez being injured for large parts of the campaign.
