Pundits have been discussing Chelsea’s revival under Enzo Maresca early in the season.

Pundits have been discussing Chelsea’s improved recent form that has seen Enzo Maresca get a handle of his new role. Maresca arrived to take over a bloated squad amid a sea of dysfunction behind the scenes, taking over from Mauricio Pochettino, who had improved things significantly at Stamford Bridge.

But it hasn’t taken Maresca long to turn things around, with the Blues having put together a run of three straight wins across all competitions, including wins over Bournemouth and West Ham in the Premier League. The improved performances have seen minds aplenty changed when it comes to predicting where the Blues might wind up come May, and Jamie Carragher is one of the pundits who has reviewed his previous prediction.

“I must say they’ve surprised me a lot. I think especially in the away games,” the former defender said on The Overlap. “You know those types of results where you haven’t watched the game and then someone tells you Wolves away, and you go wow. West Ham was pretty similar. That feels like a really big result.

“I didn’t have [Chelsea] anywhere near the top four at the start of the season or thought you could really challenge it, but it looks like now [Chelsea] could.”

Meanwhile, former Manchester United legend Paul Scholes still has his doubts, and because of two positions, in particular. He said: “We were saying Maresca is going to be the first one gone. These results have almost calmed things down. You look at the squad there is a lot of talent. I’m a little bit worried about the centre-forward to be honest. I’m worried about the keeper a little bit.”

Chelsea did want a new striker in the summer window, attempting to sign Victor Osimhen, but a deal did not play out, and they have been left to rely on Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, who have both shown impressive form already this season. Meanwhile, Filip Jorgensen has been brought in to compete with Robert Sanchez, but he is currently the number two.
