‘I’d be raging!’: Ex-players - including Didier Drogba - react to Thomas Tuchel’s controversial Kepa decision

Edouard Mendy had put an excellent display for Chelsea against Liverpool in yesterday’s Carabao Cup final.

The Senegal international made an impressive six saves, with both keepers arguably keeping their sides in it.

Mendy claimed his third clean sheet in three matches in all competitions and helped Chelsea to a penalty shoot-out - three weeks after he faced Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations final in the same situation.

However, instead of Mendy remaining in between the sticks, Thomas Tuchel brought on Kepa Arrizabalaga in the hope that he would be a better option for the penalties.

The German’s controversial decision sparked a lot of debate and criticism - especially since Kepa failed to save a single penalty and then missed his own to hand Liverpool the victory.
