Heidenheim vs Chelsea injury news as 3 ruled out and 3 doubts
A look at the latest injury news as Chelsea prepare to face Heidenheim in the Europa Conference League.
Chelsea continued their Champions League push coming out of the break, defeating Leicester City to continue their strong form. The Blues remain in third place and Enzo Maresca will be delighted by his side’s current trajectory.
For now, though, attention turns to a Conference League clash with Heidenheim on Thursday night. Here we round up the latest injury news heading into that one, with the Blues already well on their way to the knockout stage. Chelsea are currently top of the Conference League standings, but German opponents Heidenheim have also won all three of their games so far, making this one an interesting encounter.
Marnon Busch - Doubt
Busch has been out since earlier this month with an adductor issue. It’s unclear whether he could return here.
Julian Niehues - Out
Niehues is yet to return from the serious knee injury he suffered back in April, expected to be back some time in the new year.
Malo Gusto - Doubt
Maresca said of Gusto last week: “Malo was with us but during the night, he unfortunately did not feel well.” Gusto missed the Leicester game.
Pedro Neto - Doubt
Neto also missed the Leicester game with Maresca saying: “Pedro, he had a problem with [Portugal]. There was a chance he could be with us, but we didn't take any risks. Hopefully, he can be available for the next game.”
Reece James - Out
James has suffered another setback after returning briefly from a thigh injury. Maresca has said: “We have just one injured player, that is, Reece. Unfortunately, he felt something small, and we don't want to take any risks for the weekend. Hamstring. It's a muscular problem. Hopefully, it's not something long.”
Omari Kellyman - Out
Kellyman is still out with a hamstring injury but he should now be in the final stages of his recovery.
