A look at the players who left Chelsea in the summer to see how they are getting on.

Chelsea continued their big spending over the course of the summer, with spending at a huge high under the current owners. The Blues did do a better job of balancing the books, though, offloading a number of unwanted players and finally taking serious steps to streamline the squad.

Enzo Maresca made it clear he did not want too many bodies around Cobham, and the club gave him his wish by selling as many as 12 first-team players. Here we round up those players to see how they are getting on at this stage in the season.

Jamie Cumming

Cumming joined Oxford United, where he has been a regular as the club’s number one stopper, making five league appearances so far. the U’s have made a solid start to life in the Championship, currently in 10th place.

Ian Maatsen

A big-money departure, Maatsen joined Aston Villa, playing in all seven of their Premier League games so far. Villa are currently fifth and just goal difference behind Chelsea.

Hakim Ziyech

Ziyech has only made one league appearance for Galatasaray so far, who are top of the Turkish SuperLig. He has struggled with injury so far this season, hence his lack of appearances.

Omari Hutchinson

Hutchinson returned to loan club Ipswich Town on big-money deal. He has made six appearances from their seven Premier League outings. The Tractor Boys have four points from their first seven.

Lewis Hall

Hall is already a Newcastle United regular at 20 years of age. He has made six league appearances so far, missing just one game. He has been a regular at left-back, aiding a strong start to the season for the Magpies.

Thiago Silva

Silva returned to his home country to join Fluminense, where he will likely end his career. He has made eight league appearances so far and has even scored a goal from centre-back. The Brazilian season is now in its final stages and Fluminense are just one point above the relegation zone.

Malang Sarr

Sarr joined Lens but only made his first league appearance in a draw over the weekend.

Diego Moreira

Moreira joined Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, and he has already racked up seven league appearances, scoring twice in a strong start. Strasbourg are currently seventh.

Conor Gallagher

Gallagher has already made seven league appearances for Atletico, scoring twice. He made a strong start, but Atletico have disappointed a little in their last two, losing heavily to Benfica in the Champions League and drawing with Real Sociedad.

Tino Anjorin

Anjorin is now with Empoli in Serie A, where he has made two league appearances so far. Empoli are sitting in mid-table after a steady start.

Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku has made a strong start after returning to Italy with Napoli. He has scored three goals in five league appearances, helping the South Italian side to top spot so far.

Gabriel left to join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, making two league appearances since and scoring once. Al-Nassr are currently third.
