Newcastle star Kieran Trippier did not travel with the rest of the England squad for tonight's  Euro 2024 qualifier in North Macedonia according to a report on Newcastleworld.

This is because he has been allowed by the management team to attend to a personal matter after playing in the 3-0 win against Malta at Wembley over the weekend.

A Newcastle United statement confirmed: "Newcastle United can confirm that Kieran Trippier has returned home from the England squad due to a personal matter."

Chelsea have had a fairly smooth international break with Cole Palmer who has taken to life in west London as a duck takes to water making his England debut in that game against Malta.

The Blues went into the international break buzzing after beating Tottenham, ending their unbeaten start to the league season and coming back three times to earn a point against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle instead, went into the break at the back of two 2-0 defeats, first to Dortmund in the Champions League before the loss to Bournemouth.

Ironically, it was Trippier who confronted the Newcastle fans who were visibly upset with the performance with a defence of the number of injuries they have at the moment.

Chelsea might be boosted for the game with the news that summer signing Christopher Nkunku is working hard and determined to return in what will be his debut for the club if he makes the team this weekend.

Another player eyeing a return will be Romeo Lavia who turned down the chance to sign for Liverpool and instead, headed to west London to join Mauricio Pochettino's army.
