Fresh injury for boost for Manchester City ahead of Chelsea fixture with star returning

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has returned to training and will be assessed before the game against Chelsea on Thursday evening in the Premier League.
The defender missed the game against Everton due to a back problem but was part of team training ahead of the visit to Stamford Bridge.

Hide AdManchester City have had issues at the back with Ruben Dias also battling a hamstring injury he picked up while at the World Cup Qatar with Portugal.
In the absence of Dias and Laporte Manu Akanji who was signed from Dortmund and Nathan Ake who has made quite a good impression have been playing consistently even if they have won one, drawn on and lost one of their last three games.
Chelsea are struggling having only picked up a point against Nottingham Forest but with pressure growing on Graham Potter, they are expected to put up a fight and try and get something from the game.
They have also been boosted with the return of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy who has been battling a shoulder injury since returning from the World Cup.
