Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino may be in contention for the Chelsea job if Graham Potter is unable to turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino has been without a job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain midway through last year and reports from sources close to him suggest he’s waiting in the wings for an opening like the Chelsea job - which has the perfect ingredients for his next challenge.

Chelsea fans have turned on Graham Potter after his side’s poor showing against Manchester City in the FA Cup and the criticism will scale up if he can’t beat Fulham and Crystal Palace in the upcoming games.

According to a report on the Sun, Pochettino has been looked at and will be one of the managers the Chelsea board will consider in the event they have to replace Potter.

His affiliation with Tottenham will count against him, given the clubs’ bitter rivalry.

This season, Chelsea have struggled for form and consistency, and even their cup runs have stalled after they crashed out of the FA Cup and League Cup.

They have, however, qualified for the next round of the Champions League but their performance will need to improve if they are to beat Dortmund in February.

Their league position is hugely disappointing - sitting in 10th, 10 points off fourth placed Manchester United.

With the club hit by massive injuries to key stars, the board have backed Potter but he needs to help himself by improving both results and performances if he is to succeed in west London.
