Chelsea are still reportedly in the mix to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United ahead of the deadline.

Chelsea are still being linked with a move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho as the transfer deadline closes in. The deadline is set for Friday night, and clubs are now working hard to get any remaining deals over the line.

For the Blues, that includes incomings and outgoings, with a number of unwanted players likely to be shipped out before the deadline comes into force. Chelsea could also add one or two more with a winger and a striker potentially on the shopping list.

Victor Osimhen is being tipped to become the striker signing, although the deal will prove difficult financially speaking. Out wide, United outcast Sancho is being mooted as a possible option.

Interestingly, Raheem Sterling could be key to a deal with the England international deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. United have been tipped for a move for Sterling. Speaking about those possible deals, transfer ‘insider’ Fabrizio Romano wrote on Instagram: “Update: Jadon Sancho’s exit remains concrete option as talks will continue today! Juventus want Sancho on loan with buy clause, salary coverage another key point of talks with Man United.

“Chelsea are interested in Sancho but it can only be an option if United accept Raheem Sterling swap deal. Negotiations will continue as Sancho’s open to both solutions, Juventus and Chelsea: priority is to leave.”

Sancho and Sterling situations

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has made it clear he does not want Sterling, recently saying: “Brutal? I don't think so. I try to be honest. I can repeat again if it's not clear: I spoke with Raheem before the City game. I said he is going to struggle to get minutes with us and this is the reason why he is out of the squad.

"With Chilly, I said he is a lovely guy, but he is going to struggle because of his position. He is going to struggle. If you define this as brutal, it's up to you to decide. For me, it's not brutal, it's just honest."

As for Sancho, he fell out with Erik ten Hag last season, leading to a Borussia Dortmund return on loan. The pair have since made up, but the United boss has not ruled out a transfer, saying via TNT Sports: “He's here, it was a choice to make, we have had some issues. So we needed a full squad. He's one of them, he has to compete for his position, we'll have a look. In the squad, it's a long season.”
