One struggling Chelsea star continues to be linked with a move away from the club.

Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk continues to be criticised over his form having fallen victim to the fee the Blues paid for him, likely many before him. Whether it’s Nicolas Pepe, Jadon Sancho or others, the Premier League has claimed many victims, victims who have struggled to perform under the pressure of their inflated price tag.

Mudryk is one of the latest to fall into that bracket, struggling to make an impact for Chelsea since arriving on a deal worth up to £89million from Shakthar Donetsk in 2023. The Ukrainian has scored five goals in 48 league appearances and he has struggled to nail down a starting spot.

His bid for a starting spot got no easier this season with Pedro Neto arriving on a deal worth more than £50million, while Sancho also arrived on a loan deal that will be made permanent next summer. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said of Mudryk in August: "This is Misha, this is Mudryk, in terms of not only tonight, but in terms of since he joined the club. He had some good moments and then some moments like - I don't know the English word," before gesturing the flipping of a coin.

"You don't know if it's one thing or the other thing. This is Misha. If he can become more consistent, he can take one step forward."

Towards the end of the summer window and now months ahead of the January transfer window, Mudryk has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, likely largely because of the wingers who have arrived at Stamford Bridge over the summer. But transfer ‘insider Fabrizio Romano does not see a departure on the cards.

Romano on Mudryk exit links

Romano has told Football365 on the possibility of Mudryk departing Chelsea in January: “There’s absolutely zero truth in the story that Mykhaylo Mudryk wants to leave Chelsea. Mudryk has not made any decision to leave, and there are no talks taking place with any club.

“Full focus remains on Chelsea and on doing his best under Maresca, while Chelsea also hope to see him at his best soon. So there’s really nothing in this ‘story’ – I don’t even know where this is coming from to be fair.”
